OSUMB.net : News Items

  Posted By Rob Hammersmith - 2009 September 20 - 8:41am - 2 comments - Edit
For those that weren't aware, OSUMB.net was a victim of a hijacking and extortion attempt. The domain name "OSUMB.net" was first registered with ExpertSRS.com. Every year as the annual subscription needed renewed they would email me to renew, which I did for 3 straight years (2005, 2006 and 2007). But for some reason in 2008 they never emailed me to let me know to renew and the registration expired. They on their own bought the expired domain for a full year and expected me to pay hundreds of dollars to buy it back from them. I refused. A year went by and their annual subscription expired so I used GoDaddy.com to get the new registration for $9 (instead of hundreds of $). And GoDaddy has a setting for "automatic renewal", so when the registration expires it will automatically charge me $9 for a new year subscription. ExpertSRS.com is a bunch of crooks. Don't ever use them. So far I like GoDaddy.com, but you never know with these kinds of companies.
